Submission Guidelines

MIFF Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in submitting your film to the Mpumalanga International Film Festival (MIFF). We welcome original films from around the world that reflect creativity, cultural richness, and cinematic excellence.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Films must be submitted by the legal copyright holder or with the appropriate permission.
  • All genres and formats are welcome, including narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, and student films.
  • Films should be completed no earlier than January 2023.
  • Submissions must include English subtitles if the film is not in English.
  • Films previously submitted to MIFF will not be considered unless significantly re-edited.

Submission Requirements:

  • A completed online submission form.
  • A downloadable or streamable screener link (Vimeo, Google Drive, or similar).
  • A high-resolution film poster and at least 2 stills from the film.
  • A short synopsis (max 250 words) and director’s bio.

Selection Process:
All submissions will be reviewed by the MIFF programming team and jury. Selected filmmakers will be notified via email. Final decisions are made based on originality, storytelling, technical quality, and relevance to MIFF’s mission.

Terms & Conditions:
By submitting your film, you grant MIFF the right to screen your film at the festival and use promotional materials (such as trailers, posters, and stills) for marketing and publicity purposes. Submission does not guarantee selection.
